faculty, Eden Theological Seminary, recently retired priest, Emmanuel
Episcopal Church, Webster Groves, who holds a doctorate in American
Church History.
The course will explore how the various religious
traditions have influenced and been influenced by American politics from
colonial times to today.
The required text for the course is "Religion
in American Politics: A Short History" by Frank Lambert. It is available

The Origin of Satan and the
Problem of Evil

This course is taught by Dr. Ben Asen, Professor of Old
Testament at St. Louis University.
It explores the origin of Satan in the biblical tradition, as well as
the role of violence in cultural life. Does it make sense to believe in
Satan today? How can we restore hope and rekindle faith in a world of
victims and the victimized? Biblical texts and contemporary ideas of the
origins of evil will be discussed and explored. Tuition is $41.00.

The Just War Tradition:
Christian Faith and Citizenship
Mondays, August 11 - August 18

This course is taught by Pastor Peter Muschinske, ELCA Lutheran
pastor and U. S. Navy Chaplain on active duty, returned from deployment
in Iraq.
The class will focus on the history of Just War, particularly
from a Christian perspective. Participants will be invited to reflect
theologically and apply various criteria to determine when and if
Christians will accept--even advocate for--war as a means to peace. The
purchase of the class text, "War, Peace, and God: Rethinking the Just
War Tradition" by Prof. Gary M. Simpson is strongly recommended at $10.

Small group ministry is one of the most vital opportunities for

Groups, hosted by The Youth and Family Institute, will equip you with

teachers/leaders training, because faith is passed on through trusted
